When the Doctor Becomes the Patient — A personal story about circulating tumor cells, radical cancer screening and learning to live with uncertainty.

I’m about to do something I’ve never done in writing before. Share something deeply personal.
What you are about to read is my experience with aggressive cancer screening. My rational strategies. My emotional roller coaster ride. My story.
But first a bit of background.
Hi there.
You might not know me yet. My name is Johan Hedevåg. I’m a longevity physician and health tech entrepreneur based in Stockholm, where I run Revi Health. Our clinic focuses on stemcells, metabolic & hormonal health and the art of longevity. Why is this relevant?
WhatsApp Group Summary
Health Supplements and Storage Tips
Jill raised concerns about storing supplements during a Berlin heatwave. Sandra suggested using a cellar instead of a fridge to avoid humidity issues.
Ana Lorena provided insights on ideal storage temperatures: 15°C to 25°C for most supplements and highlighted that some, like omega oils, need refrigeration.
Sandra recommended cellar storage as a practical, humidity-free alternative.
Outcome: Use sealed containers with silica packs or move to cooler rooms instead of fridges for most supplements.
Integrating Technology in Health Practices
Liam asked about integrating tech in clinics. Sandra pointed him to Julian Kley from Avi Medical, and Oushesh offered a connection to Vlad Lata via LinkedIn.
Andy highlighted tools like Siphox Health and Heads Up Health for home diagnostics.
Outcome: Clear networking leads and two solid options for integrating diagnostics into practice.
Dietary Insights and Fiber Intake
Jonas emphasized that modern humans consume only ~20% of the fiber early humans did, pointing to correlations with disease. He shared routines involving psyllium husks, seeds, and berries.
He warned against relying on single supplements, pushing instead for a diverse, whole-food-based approach.
Outcome: Modern diets are fiber-deficient; sustained health benefits require comprehensive dietary changes.
Preventive Health Testing in Berlin
Ori compared lactate threshold testing options between SMS and Charité. Heiko noted Charité’s rigid all-or-nothing packages, while Noah praised their sport medicine clinic for its value (€150 incl. VO2 max and bloodwork).
Sandra was surprised they offered any preventive access at all.
Outcome: SMS appears more flexible; Charité offers value if you’re okay with the full diagnostic package and some bureaucracy.
Astaxanthin and Health Discussions
David asked for personal experiences. Heiko reported no visible effects after 10+ years of use. Jonas stressed skepticism toward miracle claims and emphasized context.
Humorously, some compared it to spirulina hype.
Outcome: Astaxanthin may have marginal benefits but likely doesn’t deliver dramatic results on its own.
